Hair Extension Installment Methods

Sew-ins - Hair extensions are sewn to a cornrow braid foundation, which is usually braided in a circular or horseshoe pattern. Sometimes hair must be added to a client's natural hair to create a more firm and secure braid, especially if the client has baby soft or thin hair. Natural parts can be created in the weave, and some hair can be left out around the hairline for a more realistic and natural look. It takes 3 to 4 hours to complete. Synthetic sew-ins last about 3 to 4 weeks, 100% human hair about 2 months, and Remy hair up to 3 months with proper maintenance. The client usually returns to the stylist in 3 to 4 weeks to get the weave tightened due to new hair growth and loosening of the weave, which is normal over a length of time. The sew-in must be removed by the stylist.

Quick Weaves - This is an affordable and temporary style for special occasions or events. Glue is used to bond weave to hair or to a wig cap. The quick weave should not be wet or oiled, for this can cause the weave to come apart.This technique is not intended for long term use because the glue can damage your hair. A quick weave takes about 1 hour to complete, and last no longer than a week or two, or until your next shampoo.

Netweaving - Instead of relying solely on braids as a foundation, a weaving net is used to form a foundation. The client's hair is usually braided before securing the net to the client's hair, and then the hair weave is sewn directly to the net. The hair can also be combed and pulled back flat before placing the net on the head, but this could result in the natural hair drying out & matting if the weave is worn for more than two weeks. This method is generally used on people suffering from severe hair loss, especially balding on the top. It's also popular with clients that want to give their natural hair a rest from perms, relaxers, and heating appliances. It takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete, and last about 2 to 3 months.

Hair Fusion (strand by strand method) - This method involves taking a tiny group of your hair stands and a tiny group of keratin tipped hair extension strands and then fusing the two together with a thermal gun. If you're truly want fuller & longer hair that flows, swings, and dances with you, then hair fusion may be right for you. You can even use it to get amazing highlights without coloring your hair. The strand-by-strand method can be used on all hair types and textures -- coarse, wavy, or straight. Keratin tipped Remy hair is used for this technique and the hair style can last for months. You can wear a variety of hair styles -- ponytails, updo's, curls or just blow your hair out straight. Fusion hair may be rollerset, crimped, curled, flat ironed, and pressed. It takes 8 to 10 hours to complete, and last 3 to 6 months. The fusion method is not recommended for people that have thinning hair or baldness/alopecia condition.
