We are seeking a self-reliant Chemical Engineer with proven professional experience in a batch process product development environment. Our complex ammunition manufacturing and assembly facilities are undergoing transformational modernization and operational automation, surely to challenge you and stretch your skill set. Ideal candidates will bring with them an understanding of explosives, pyrotechnics and/or ammunition.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Managing multiple projects concerned with all aspects of ammunition production (equipment up-time, cost control, safety, quality, etc).
• Defining key improvements (against current baseline performance) in the manufacturing process, material flow, safety, and/or operational availability that will be incorporated in Research and Development Project(s) design and implementation consistent with R&D.
• Developing project level systems requirements (based on an in-depth understanding of manufacturing process variables and their impact on product quality, safety, and manufacturing efficiency) and ensuring that project engineers and subcontracted engineering firms recognize and incorporate �flow down� requirements to related tasks.
• Sharing responsibilities with Project Managers to meet or exceed expectations on project quality, schedule, cost, and risk management. Participating with Project/Implementation Managers, R&D leadership teams, Building Leadership Teams, and Product Teams to meet scheduled decision dates for project improvement objectives and systems requirements.
• Supporting Project Manager�s and Program Manager's responsibilities to ensure ATK Engineering Standards are followed for assigned projects.
• Working with Project Manager /Operations / Maintenance / Quality / PES team to identify and collect performance data that can be/ is used to measure completed project impact and compare it to original project objectives.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
• Proven professional experience in a manufacturing environment is non-negotiable.
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art chemical engineering, product development/assembly and lean manufacturing engineering principles.
• Strong computer skills are a must. Knowledge of CHEMCAD and Cheetah are expected, experience with AutoCAD a major plus.
• Process control and/or statistical evaluation techniques and understanding of DMAIC; in addition to six sigma disciplines and lean concepts also preferred.
• Familiarity with ammunition, explosives and pyrotechnics and their functions is a plus.

Position Description:
100% of day is spent in our office composing estimates from architectural drawings and following up on submitted quotations. Experience in blueprint reading, specification interpretation and sales are necessary. The estimating procedure can be taught but estimating experience would be an asset to this position. The individual must be energetic, have excellent phone communication and negotiation skills.
