* PRACTICAL guitar theory. For having played guitar for 20+ years I surprise myself with how much theory I have forgotten, failed to fully grasp, or never even knew. � >>> Note <<< I have �practical� in all caps and bold. If an instructor spends much time at all on theory lessons dissecting someone else�s work, I get bored quickly. Also, so many teachers or authors of guitar instructional books want to dwell on what the �jazz masters� do. I don�t play jazz and frankly I really don�t even like listening to it! I�m trying to seek out someone that can share with me, USABLE guitar theory for rock, metal, blues, folk and pop guitar styles.

* Guitar soloing and improv: I already understand, better improv will come from better a better theory base but how about tossing me some of your killer licks, please and thank you. Chicken-pickin� licks? Common shredder runs, maybe? A few chop building exercises too?

Band Reviews at venues within 2 minutes of my house for LOCAL BANDS.

Same deal as always: Get me + everyone else I bring in free to your show (if there is a cover) and I will write a review on your band which will be published on website that I haven't gotten around to creating. In addition to the review, a picture from one of your sites will be posted if I don't get too drunk and lose the camera which you will have to provide, along with a link to your myspace page. This will also include brief bio. history should you provide it to me in a timely manner (and if I feel like doing it). Free drinks are always nice and are required.

For the record, to avoid any ongoing conflicts: I do this whenever I feel like it, and I expect to be compensated for this. I don't care that original artists should be recognized and at least put out there for the general STL public to see; most STL residents don't give a shit about random, unsigned original bands (sorry, but it is the truth, as sad as it is). Therefore, if I to drive further than 2 minutes from my house, you must provide a limo to pick me up. If you have a gig in a venue within that radius, definitely let me know; also, buying drinks does not "buy" a good review, but maybe also getting me a hotel room and hookers will. If your band is poorly put together and has an uncomfortable stage presence, I will leave early with the hookers to go back to the hotel room you provide (with an open bar, of course). On the flip side, if you are good then you will like the review if I ever decide to write it..

This whole " If your band wants to play my show you have to sell _____ number of tickets or pay to play" garbage has to go.Back in the day, bars already had a regular crowd because they had good music inside.Now days if you are a local musician (who is probably already poor as it is) , you have to go around begging for ticket buyers.Because people aren't coming to the bars anymore from the fact that most the music is no good and un-original.
So RESEARCH your bands before booking and make sure they don't suck.If people ONLY book TALENT maybe we can get back to a good music scene.
And- Musicians work hard enough.They don't need extra stress.Promote your own bar.We'll play for food !

We're three 23 year old dudes with all sorts of different influences, looking for an original sounding vocalist to front a new band which we started about a month ago. We've worked out a few completed instrumental only tracks in need of vocals at this point, but we're definitely not set on playing them exactly as they are once a singer comes into the picture. Our music is super fucking hard to describe, but generally speaking is a mix of punk/indie/funk/rock. We're serious about writing good music and playing out, but this isn't a job for us at this point. We're not pretentious, ridiculously technical, overbearing or anything like that.

In a vocalist, we don't necessarily care about perfect pitch or a stereotypical "good singer" voice. We're not looking for a Chad Kroeger/105.7 generic singer type. We just care about a personality coming through in someone's voice. Hell, listen to Rancid or Modest Mouse, their singers don't have great voices by most standards, but they've got that something that sets them apart. That's what we're looking for in a nutshell. We're not exactly sure what direction we want our music to go, and really are looking for a vocalist that can help us decide.

Bands that we love and are influenced by, but don't necessarily sound exactly like include: Queens of the Stoneage, Rancid, Bob Dylan/The Band,Modest Mouse, Black Keys, NOFX, My Morning Jacket, Primus, Foo Fighters, Stevie Wonder, Rage Against The Machine, Presidents Of The United States Of America, The Beatles, Frank Zappa, old Incubus, Sonseed, older Kings Of Leon, The Strokes, Beck, Diana Ross, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, The Mars Volta/At The Drive In, etc..

At this point with our current work schedules, we try to practice at least a couple times a week, usually Wednesdays and Mondays later in the evening, and whenever on Saturdays. We've had some good talent walk in the door, but we're still looking for "The Fit". Here we go again:
South County based rock cover band approaching the final phase before hitting the STL rock cover scene is seeking a talented, confident bassist to focus on locking in with the drummer to lay down solid, wall to wall grooves.
We focus primarily on playing the most well known rock covers guaranteed to pack the dance floor, spanning all eras from the �60�s through today.
While we all have day jobs and aren�t looking to make this our careers, we DO want to bring an elevated level of professionalism, marketability, and showmanship that will in turn deliver name recognition, residencies at the top STL rock clubs, and monetary compensation to match.
We are more concerned with having this outfit polished to our high standards than getting out and gigging immediately.
The current lineup consists of lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist, lead guitarist, drummer, and sound man/vocalist/percussion.

As stated previously, we are looking for a bassist focused on locking in with the drummer and laying down a solid foundation for the music.
John Myung/Billy Sheehan/Stu Hamm/Geddy Lee clones and Berkeley C.O.M. rejects need not apply.
While we want someone who has the chops to deliver when necessary, we are particularly concerned with finding a player who will focus on the groove and not overplay.

Band needs Lead Vox, Priest, Ac/Dc, Zepplin, Hatchet,Foghat,Fastway, etc. All band members have 20 years plus experience.
