For sale is a rare, 1st issue vintage LOUIS MARX TOYS Scale Model "SEA WITCH" CLIPPER SHIP. Partly assembled as shown, may be complete but I doubt it, box worn, torn and eaten as pictured. Sold as is. This has been sitting in the attic for many many years! Sold as is, as pictured.
The "formed plastic sails" are NOT in the box, they are missing. Dad always said, “Sails just hide all the rigging”. 32" long in the hull and 4 1/2 " wide. Marx made many toys in the 50's and 60's and were made in New York. This is a U.S.A. made Vintage model with one piece plastic hull and lithograph tin sheet metal decks. Marx is the only company that did this as far as I know. Louis Marx & Co., Inc., 200 Fifth Ave., New York 10, N.Y. World’s Largest Manufacturers Of Toys. A real modelers prided American historic piece here. They also produced a model of the Swordfish.
Instructions are missing. But can be found on-line. This kit has been re-released several times, but all with plastic decks. It’s possible that The Lindberg’s current issue parts could be used because I believe they purchased the original molds.
This was started many years ago. Mask are simple “mocked-up” for photograph. Can’t guarantee all parts are present.
Story of this particular kit: My father purchased one in the early 50’s when they first hit the market. He sold the finish model back to the store as a demo. He took my mother to Florida for two weeks vacation with the money. She wanted one built for herself. He purchased this one, started it, but never finished it. To this day she is saddened that it was never completed.
