This chair was used by a person born in the late 1940s and is > > > EXCEPTIONALLY WELL-MADE .
It is sturdy, clean, well-crafted and of an intermediate height [ specifications below] which is meant for a child ‘in-between’ toddler and teen ager.
***Amazingly, due its strong construction, it can even hold someone weighing 200 lbs. or so when the person using it sits calmly and is not ‘scootching’ around. For potential adult use it offers the benefit of sitting lower and closer to the floor than standard chairs whenever a task or position lower than regular adult chairs is called for. For the toddler-to-teen use it is perfect just as you see it.
Some of its remarkable strength features are the multiple struts between all four legs and its complete lack of any wobble from uneven legs. The back is firmly anchored to the seat with no give or swaying whatsoever. Much of its construction depended on screws rather than nails which makes all joints and fittings hold longer and more securely. This item belongs to the category of “they don’t make them like they did before” which lament I’m sure we’ve all heard. This one was made in those “before” times !
The decals on its back and seating platform are original and show commensurate wear but are still easily recognizable.
DIMENSIONS :
Height of back from floor - 28 ½” and from seat 12”
Seat is 16” wide at front and slightly tapering to 15” wide in front of the backrest.
Support struts are double between the front and rear legs on each side and single between left and right legs both front and back.
