Very good condition and only used for biking on smooth trails. Cool color! Minimal usage and always stored inside. Probably needs new tires and tubes at this point given its age.. I purchased new in April 1996.

From the internet:
1996 Specialized Rockhopper - General Information
Based on your serial number, here's some information about your Specialized Rockhopper mountain bike. "PP" likely is the date code for manufacture.

Rockhoppers are mid-level, trail-oriented mountain bikes: During the 1990s, Specialized offered three main mountain bike models: StumpJumpers (top-tier), RockHoppers (mid-level), and HardRocks (entry-level). This Rockhopper falls into the mid-range category, designed for a balance of performance and versatility on trails.

Frame Material: Specialized Rockhoppers of this era often came with frames made of either CroMoly steel or A1 aluminum. CroMoly frames were known for their durability and responsive ride, while A1 aluminum frames were lightweight and stiff. To determine which this bike has, you'd need to inspect the frame or potentially consult the original bike documentation if you have it.

Typical Components: Specialized Rockhoppers of this vintage were generally equipped with reliable components, including a variety of Shimano drivetrain components and cantilever or V-brakes . More specific component details would depend on the exact Rockhopper sub-model.

Popularity and Reputation: Specialized Rockhoppers, especially from the 90s, are known for their quality construction and are popular choices for various types of riding, including commuting and light trail use. They're considered well-built and offer a good balance of performance and value.
