I have translated the title page of the book into English and placed it below.
To get the most out of the collection one should be able to read the German type style called Fraktur. I can help with a resource for a buyer to learn that fairly quickly. That’s how I initially learned German in the 1960s.
As the images indicate, this wonderful book has ‘seen better days’ physically speaking. One would not buy this to page madly through it looking for a given song. Instead, it is a deep resource for musicians, historians, cultural anthropologists, folk culture researchers, and others who like to glean all sorts of tidbits and insights into 19th century German and Central European culture and can do that gently. Handle it carefully and with love and you are sure to find great treasure inside it.
493 songs, listed alphabetically, and including even an English version of the Star Spangled Banner from a time when All Things American fascinated Europeans, especially the Germans who immigrated to the U.S. in two droves in the second half of the 1800s.
The book measures 5” tall, 3” wide, and is 1” thick. There are no musical notes, just lyrics.
The TRANSLATION in the approximate same layout as in the photo of the title page :
