These few lines are AN ADDITION TO MY ORIGINAL POSTING OF THIS AD :
I have an article from the Wall Street Journal of May 1, 2025 about Alfons [Alphonse] Mucha which I will give to an interested buyer to help explain the importance of Mucha in art history. It is fascinating and will help one appreciate his style. The article will be in Microsoft Word .doc format which can be read by both PC users as well as Mac users and will be sent to any party with a serious interest in purchasing this vase.
THE ORIGINAL POST is here below :
Alfons Maria Mucha, known internationally as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech painter, illustrator, and graphic artist. Living in Paris during the Art Nouveau period, he was widely known for his distinctly stylized and decorative theatrical posters, particularly those of Sarah Bernhardt. He produced illustrations, advertisements, decorative panels, as well as designs, which became among the best-known images of the period.
We purchased this piece in Prague on a visit there in 2004 to do some ancestor searching. Mucha was and is loved by Czech people particularly for his use of and mastery in a soft color palette.
It was produced by the W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik in 2002 and is part of a limited, numbered series, being Nr. 1,187 out of 1,500 for its world-wide distribution.
The last photo is an accompanying brochure on Mucha and photo 6 is the Certificate of Authenticity
I cannot be totally sure of the price we paid for it but do believe it was somewhere over $ 200.
