For a market price comparison do an online search for “Aynsley painted chinaware cup and saucer”; you will find some sky-high prices, making our $ 29 price here a very good bargain for Aynsley.
Aynsley China Ltd. was a British manufacturer of bone china tableware, giftware and commemorative items. It was founded in 1775 and was, and may still be, a favorite of the British Royal Family. It 1997 it was sold to the Beleek Pottery of Ireland. Beleek still operates a factory but the Aynsley line appears not to be active anymore.
The cup, 2 ⅝” tall, and saucer, 5 ½” wide, are in excellent shape. The bottom of the cup carries the distinguished Aynsley seal. The number ’31’ appears on the bottom outside of the cup but I can find no information on the meaning of that
