Maybe you have a German background, maybe you lived there for a while, or maybe you’d like to visit someday. Frankfurt is the commercial capital of of the country, or at least the locals would tell you that. That’s for others to decide, however. Folks from Hamburg or Munich, or other large cities, might disagree with that !
I bought these in 1968 when I studied in [then West] Germany. They are 4” in diameter and are in perfect condition.
The four structures pictured, in order of their appearance as individual plates, and all in the Altstadt [ Old City ] are :
Das Salzhaus - the Salt House. Built around 1600 and reconstructed after WW II.
Das GoetheHaus - birthplace of Johann Wolfgang Goethe, literary figure. Built 1618, reconstructed.
Der Römer - 15th century construction of a merchant family. Now part of City Hall complex.
Die Hauptwache - built in 1730 as a Guard House, formerly named the Schiller Haus.
