This design was patented between 1908 and 1919 and the clocks were manufactured shortly thereafter. NEITHER one is in working condition : we suspect they are overwound. The housing of each has all sorts of small metal screws holding holding the back on. Any watch maker, clock shop, or general tinkerer could likely restore them to working order. They have NOT been dropped, submerged, or any other nasty stuff. Opening the clocks should be easy.

The mechanism is that of a ‘wind-up’; winding too far has likely caused them to stop working.
The cases of each are in fine order; the glass of the Baby Ben is cracked but it is still all there, held firmly in place by the frame, with NO rough edges to cut your finger - just cracked in place. The Big Ben glass is fine.

The alarm function is the same on each- on the top of the housing, on either side of the ring, are two windows. On each clock the alarm messages are the same : ‘alarm/silent’ and ‘steady/repeat’.

There were extensive patents filed for each, three patents for the Baby and eight for the Big guy, these eight from 1908-1919.

Size :

Baby Ben is 3 ½” tall, 2 ½” wide, and ½” deep. Baby Ben is the one with the black dial face.

Big Ben is just under 7” tall, 5 ¼” wide, and 2 ½” deep. Big Ben has the white dial face.
