Rare diesel X5 in good condition. I love this car but don't have time to fix all of the little things. I am posting to see if someone with experience wants a fun fix-up project. Posted as is with the codes it is throwing. If I keep it and fix it I will raise the price appropriately.
(See spreadsheet of my sunk costs). Currently it is throwing a particulate filter dirty (DPF) message in the car, and is in 'low power mode' but drives and handles great ('low power mode' can only do about 60 mph on the highway). I've cleared the code and it drives normally for about 5 minutes before the check engine light comes back on and the code reappears. The screenshot from my code reader is after clearing the codes and restarting the car.
I’ve planned to work through the issues and fix it up myself but I'm open to selling it to someone that wants to take it on as a project. THIS IS NOT FOR SOMEONE WANTING A DAILY DRIVER. Please only message me if you know how to work on these as you can get in trouble quickly if you don't know what you're doing. The vehicle is mechanically sound but has many minor things that need to be fixed: Driver's seat belt will ding and show as not fastened periodically; both mirrors will not adjust up. Since it is just , and on both mirrors, I believe it is the electrical connection to the up position on the switch in the car; AC is not blowing cold. I haven't looked into the climate control system but it may just need a freon recharge, or it may be more involved; and, the right rear private shade is missing the handle and has rolled down into the door.
There is one complete fob with emergency key (the photo shows fob without key), the hood, where it is shown with paint damage, has been replaced, and there is some additional paint damage on the top of the front quarter panels. Finally, the vehicle has four tires and wheels from a same era X3. These tires are 245/50 18". Purchase includes four tires and wheels from the X5 (255/55 18"). The use of the X3 tires/wheels resulted from the X5 tires having more evident wear. A CarFax report is available to serious buyers.
