Up for your consideration from the world famous Redneck Stereo Salon is a Bryston 0.4b preamplifier. If you know Bryston then you know they are known for some of the best built units in the audio industry and also some of the best warranties in the audio industry. When you pick up a Bryston unit you know right away it is not some cheap unit that is built to a price point. Everything Bryston builds is quality.
This unit is from our scratch and dent pile, we usually sell these units to our parts guys because everyone seems to expect a unit that is 20 or more years old to be in perfect condition, we have those units but certainly not at the scratch and dent prices. Even though these units are not perfect cosmetically they have still been through our extensive testing, electronically cleaning, and if needed repairs. Every function works correctly. If you are wanting a unit that has been rebuilt and new capacitors installed this is not your unit. If you want new caps installed we can do that for you but it will increase the price of the unit. We do not replace caps if they are not bad.
Here is some intel on this unit:
Design and Features
Type: Solid-state analog linestage preamplifier.
Design Philosophy: Designed to be "musically transparent" with a minimum of extra features, focusing on sound quality.
Controls: Includes standard controls such as input selector, tape monitor, mono, mute, and balance.
Input/Output Options: The 0.4B version specifically lacks balanced XLR inputs/outputs, relying solely on RCA connections.

The 0.4B is generally praised in user reviews for its "legendary Bryston quality" and excellent performance for its class. It is known for its quiet operation and clean handling of audio signals.
Noise Level: Praised for low noise, although a specific manufacturer's rating was not found in the search results.
Distortion: Designed for very low distortion figures, a hallmark of Bryston equipment.
