As always with all our units these speakers have been checked and tested by professionals (not amateurs) and found to be in perfect working order. There are a few very small scratches that are difficult to see without close inspection as is usual with units of this age. Check pictures for details on the physical condition of these speakers. We do not have the time to do demos but if you buy anything from us that is not sold for parts we will set the units up to confirm the unit or units are working correctly and if necessary give you a quick lesson on how to use the unit safely and correctly. ALWAYS read your manuals before connecting or playing ANY electronic equipment.
If you are not familiar with Magnepan speakers here are a few things we fell are important for you to know.
(1) If you are a Headbanger (Only like your music really loud) Magnepan is NOT the speakers for you. One of Magnepans greatest attributes is resolution, not exceeding the sound level of a jet engine. If you want sound and I mean really loud sound you can get that equipment really cheap, here is how to do it. Go to the guitar center and tell the salesman you want the cheapest most efficient pair of used PA speakers they have for sale then tell him you want the cheapest used amp they have for sale. That setup should easily exceed 112 dB SPL (anything past 112dB causes hearing damage) all you need is some kind of source for the music and you are ready to begin your adventure into permanent hearing damage. Another important note is the quality of the amplifier power as it concerns these speakers. With these speakers wattage numbers are not as important as the amplifiers ability to provide good quality current. It is vitally important that whatever amplifier you use it must be stable to 4 ohms (2 ohm is even better)
Also the sound quality of your equipment is very important when it comes to Magnepan speakers. These speakers are very neutral they do not add or subtract from the signal that is feed to them. In essence what goes into these speakers, Good, Bad or Ugly that is exactly what you are going to hear.
What is important to note about the purchase of these speakers is that they come with factory parts but even more important than the parts themselves is these speakers come with the factory box and boxes that without them you can not transport any Magnepan speakers safely.
