JAVA is an all-day coffee bar and an 800-capacity live music venue in the heart of The Grove on Manchester Ave. We pour espresso in the morning and host packed shows at night - and we're looking for a Bar Manager who can run both sides of that with confidence. This is a chance to own the bar program at one of St. Louis's most exciting venues.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Run the bar day to day - coffee service, full bar, and high-volume show nights
- Hire, schedule, and lead the bartending and barback team
- Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships; keep pour costs in check
- Keep us compliant - liquor licensing, responsible service, health and safety
- Build and update drink menus, including specials for events and shows
- Handle cash, POS, and nightly reconciliation
- Deliver great hospitality and solve problems fast when the room is full
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 2+ years in a bar or hospitality role, with some lead or supervisory experience
- Comfortable running a high-volume bar (live events / nightlife a big plus)
- Knowledge of cocktails, beer, and basic mixology
- Familiar with Toast POS system, inventory, and cash handling
- TIPS or equivalent responsible alcohol service certification (or willing to get it)
- Reliable, level-headed, and great with people
- Available nights and weekends - that's when the shows happen
NICE TO HAVE
- Coffee / espresso experience
- Existing relationships with local beverage vendors
- Experience opening or revamping a bar program
PAY
$55,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience. Full-time.
