Beni Ourain rugs are perhaps the most famous type of Moroccan rug. They are handwoven by the Beni Ourain tribe in the Atlas Mountains and are characterized by their minimalist, geometric designs in neutral colors, usually black or brown on a cream or white background.
Traditionally cream in color with large lozenges or other Berber insignia, some more rare Beni rugs in colors turquoise and taupe.
