My 1970’s LP made in the Matsumoku factory is a great playing and great looking guitar. I’ve own it for 40+ years and these are it’s modifications:: Dimarzio soapbars DP 169 ( humbuckers mimicking P 90’s) both in the 9K range, full size 500K quality pots and good caps, a Gibson-style 3 way toggle switch from Switchcraft, strap lock buttons from Schaller, a faithful MIJ vintage copy of a Gibson “harmonica” style bridge. The original owner replaced the tuners with vintage Schaller tuning machines. Because I added the Dimarzios the original pick guard was modified and new surrounds were made to complete the installation. A fairly new bone nut was also installed. This Black Beauty
checks off all the important qualities of a classic Les Paul- the looks, the finish, materials, solid woods, dimensions and performance are all there. There are a few light scratches, small dings and imperfections. The mahogany neck is smooth, straight, truss rod works, vintage frets are very playable, the rosewood fretboard is in great shape and the setup for me is terrific. It has been rarely played and very infrequently outside my home. It weighs 8 1/2 lbs. and a very good condition gig bag is included.
