These are Muonionalusta Meteorites that were discovered in 1906 in Sweden, near the village of Kitkiojoki, Norbotten. Iron meteorites were once part of the core of a long-vanished planet or large asteroid and are believed to have originated within the Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter. These slices each measure about 24.40 x 14.70 mm. That's close to 1 inch x 1/2 inch. They weigh 22.33 carats total weight of the two. These gems are fine octahedrites and have been etched to show the natural growth pattern. These gems contain iron, you might see rust. This is a natural patina that develops over time and is to be expected. A thin sealer has been added to try to inhibit rust and to protect the etching. The name of these meteorites is, Muonionalusta. The class they are in is, Iron, fine Octahedrite. I have hand set these gems into these oxidized solid .925 sterling silver settings that are marked on the back. They are on .925 solid sterling silver lever back earrings. The earrings you see in the photos are the earrings you will receive. Photos enlarged to show detail. Inventory #7106.
